Tell us more about yourself:
What are your fitness goals?
My fitness goals are mainly to feel good in my own skin 99% of the time. To have consistency. I am also a swimmer and would love to see what my full potential can be. Whatever the journey may be, either as a master swimmer trying to qualify for the World Master Championships or swimming at Senior Nationals, I believe I am at the right age to peak as I feel mentally and physically stronger than ever.
What are your hobbies?
I obviously love swimming but other than that I enjoy staying active by training or helping others on their fitness journey. I also enjoy easy bike rides on a Sunday afternoon and running around on the school fields with my kids!
Do you have any sporting/fitness achievements you would like to share?
I was a KZN Provincial swimmer from 1996-2006.
I also have NKZN Colours in life-saving.
I played Provincial hockey in 2006 (NKZN).
In 2016 I was the fastest female swimmer in the North West over 50m freestyle at the North West Short Course Championships.
I also received my Colours for North West for swimming in 2016.
Why did you enter the USN Face of Fitness 2017?
Self-love is taking deep holistic care of your mind, emotions, body and spirit. Self-acceptance is the attitude that allows that kind of care. Something I have struggled with over the past few years. And still do at times. I want to inspire other women to fall in love with themselves. To show them it is okay not to be perfect and accept their imperfect flaws. But still be healthy and take care of themselves. We are all beautiful in our own unique way. True self-acceptance shows up in the moment when you realise that peace cannot co-exist with war. The moment you choose to stop being your own enemy and to love yourself instead. My journey isn’t about becoming a different person, but loving who I am!
